Phil Yates (Managing Director at Alliance FDL) said “As a logistics business with a large fleet, we understand the importance of doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint.  Starting with our brand-new distribution centre, we have worked hard to ensure we made the right choices.  From its net carbon zero construction, solar panels including battery storage and the ability to provide electricity back to the UK grid, a truck wash that runs 100% on rainwater harvested from our roof, even down to planting over 2000 trees and shrubs. We have found successful recycling solutions for our 3 main waste streams, polythene, carpet offcuts and cardboard, meaning 92% of all waste generated is now recycled.

The next big step was always going to involve our fleet. Pushing on from all our great work elsewhere we are thrilled to announce we have taken delivery of our first Volvo Electric Trucks. This is a huge step for Alliance, and to ensure we made the right choice when it came to the most suitable vehicle, we worked closely with the team at Hartshorne to make sure we got it just right.  We decided the Volvo FM Electric truck was the right fit for us, a highly flexible truck for local and regional transportation, which can also be used in zero emission zones and in areas where diesel trucks are not permitted”.
